Premier Forney Newsletter

Demrick

Welcome to Forney’s first Quarterly newsletter. Our goal is to provide you with useful information on Forney’s activities and insight into industry leading projects we’re implementing. This quarter we highlight a major project with NIPSCO where we built custom burners to heat up an SCR for improved emissions performance and start up time reduction.

Forney was acquired by Graham Holdings in June, 2013. Our owner’s goals are to invest for the long term and develop a portfolio of industry leading companies. Forney is honored to be a part of this organization. Here’s some of the exciting things we’ve done so far –

  • We moved to a new corporate office in Addison, Texas. This facility houses all our Engineering, Sales, and Corporate functions. We also have a new Flame Scanner development lab and customer training facility. Click here to see more information on a free training program we’re offering on a range of Forney scanners, igniters, BMS, and burners. We hope to see you in the near future.
  • We made two acquisitions in 2014. The FlameHawk® turbine scanner was acquired from UTC / Goodrich. The product is specifically engineered to provide very fast flame on / flame off response for these demanding applications. The FlameHawk® product line also includes Fiber Optics with high pressure adapters for direct mounting to the turbine housing without cooling.
  • Our second acquisition was Damper Design in Bethlehem, Pa. Forney is pleased to be able to offer Dampers (guillotine, louver, double louver, bi-plane, and poppet) to our customers. Also included in the transaction is the Eagle Air coal burner which provides very low NOx. And we also now offer expansion joints, air heater seals, and access doors. Your local Forney sales rep will be glad to provide additional details on all these new offerings.
  • We’ve invested in new tools for our manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico. These include a new Haas precision CNC, plasma torches, and laser welder. You’ll see more details on our manufacturing capabilities later in this newsletter.
  • And finally Forney has made several major commitments to R&D. First we’ve hired a dedicated PhD in CFD to allow us to model burner / boiler designs and evaluate new burners. Our customers are increasingly looking to convert to gas from coal and oil and we’re ready to provide the evaluation models. And we’re building a large scale burner test stand at our facility in Monterrey. We expect this to be operational in June and we’ll give you a tour and more details in a future newsletter.

Whether you’re building a new plant, upgrading, or just need service and spare parts we are working hard to earn your business. If we can help in any way give us a call at 800-356-7740.

Thank you,
Tom Demrick
